The Concept
The concept is simple: stick several shorts together, ensuring they are linked
by a common theme and character, and you get a feature… like a film version of
Exquisite_Corpse the result could be startling, beautiful,
bizarre, but never boring or banal.
By the time summer is over, you'll have worked on your first feature!
The Game
'Life is a collection of short stories, conversely this story is a collection
of short lives'.
Film-makers are invited to make a short film about a life cut unexpectedly
short. There are to be no restrictions on the type of film you'd like to make,
art-house, comedy, drama, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, western, whatever; although
there are a few rules…
The Rules
-All films must be under 6 minutes in length, and fall within the technical
requirements below.
-All films to include a premature death (in whatever form you decide to
interpret that)
-All films to include Spencer Roberts, an open-source character, to be
developed by all participating and to be used in whatever shape or form; from
just a simple mention "I thought Spencer was buying the milk?" to
fully fledged role. Participants will be given access to Spencer Roberts'
Facebook, Twitter and Myspace profile, and allowed freedom to mould and shape
Spencer however they feel (within the boundaries of acceptability, i.e. don't
be a dick about it)
-Other than that feel free to flex your creativity, use this as an opportunity
to get off you ass and make that short you had an idea for once but maybe left
on the backburner for too long, something personal, something unique,
something you.
The Technical Requirements
-Max film length 6 minutes: no title credits, title max 10 seconds, end
credits fall outside of the six minutes and are to be provided separately to
the film.
-Minimum HDV format (no standard definition)
-Minimum 16mm for film
-Minimum animation spec, 1920 x1080 square pixels, 12fps
-Audio: 48kHz, stereo
The Timeline
-All participants to join Cinema di Nessuno Facebook group (posting the word
"Filmmaker" on the wall)
-All Filmmakers will be invited to contribute to the character Spencer
Roberts.
-All Filmmakers will be invited to the contribute to the casting of Spencer
Robert, 31 June 2009, in London (details to follow)
-All Filmmakers must submit one and only one film by the 15 August 2009.
-All Filmmakers invited to attend selection day, 29 August 2009.
